This special run of Super Quilt Les Paul Standards is special indeed! They're made by Gibson's master craftsmen in the Custom Shop and feature Gibson's famous 50's style "long tenon" neck-to-body joint. This means maximum vibration transfer, fantastic resonance, and singing sustain. The Super Quilt Les Paul Standards are factory equipped with Seymour Duncan '59 pickups for that authentic vintage late-1950's humbucker sound! These responsive pickups provide warm and crystalline clean tones, and full and edgy distorted tones.

Super Quilt Les Pauls come in some of the most beatiful transparent colored finishes which really highlight the top-grade quilted maple. These fine instruments are tops in sound, playability, and looks! Call our guys Scott and Chris for an in-hand description or additional photos. 800-343-9795

The Dave Carpenter Handpicked '59s from Gibson Custom were specially built for ultimate tone, beauty, and performance...

Dave Carpenter is Private Reserve's general manager and he is one serious guitar aficionado. His passion for the instrument has driven him to not only discover the best guitars out there, but to also understand what makes the very best examples of a particular model stand above the rest. Having owned many vintage '50s Les Pauls over the years, he has spent considerable time analyzing all of the tiny details that make a particular instrument stand out. The Dave Carpenter Handpicked 1959 Les Paul Reissues are the culmination of his vast knowledge and experience with this iconic Gibson solidbody.

The Pickups: We call them "LiveBuckers", and they sound incredible! The Private Reserve team worked closely with Gibson Custom to develop these special pickups. They have unique coil windings and unique magnets which give them a great vintage PAF sound. Compared to BurstBuckers, these are a bit tighter, fuller, and they have a little extra edge. Gibson sent us prototypes of these exclusive pickups and the Private Reserve team had a "Pickup Shootout" that compared them to Gibson's other vintage style pickups. These harmonically rich, vintage flavored pickups were the unanomous winner!

This limited run of Historic 1959 Reissues features select wood that was personally picked out by Dave to create superb Les Pauls with great resonance and tonal character. All have nicely figured eastern maple tops and meticulously chosen mahogany for the body and neck. High quality dark Indian rosewood was picked for the fingerboards. The Dave Carpenter Handpicked models also feature TonePros tailpiece, long studs, and inserts. They are made of the correct vintage metal alloys which help the instruments resonance and sustain and help bring out further subtleties of the vintage Les Paul sound.

If you've been looking for a Historic 1959 Reissue that stands out from the pack, you've found it!

Available in five spectacular finishes: Dirty Lemon, Bourbonburst, Washed Cherry, Antiquity Burst, and Unburst!

1955 Les Paul Refin

Beautiful "Atlanta Burst" Finish

Unmatched harmonic richness and incredible singing sustain are hallmarks of the 1955 Reissue Series Les Paul guitars from Gibson Custom. By utilizing the proper vintage metal alloys and longer dimensions for the steel tailpiece studs and bushings, the '55 series comes closer to true vintage tonality than ever before.

This week's featured guitar is an early '55 "Refin" Les Paul featuring a TonePros lightweight wraparound tailpiece and sweet sounding P-90 single-coil pickups. This combination gives a full, resonant sound with plenty of bite and presence. The Eric Clapton

1960 "Beano" Les Paul Standard

Extremely Limited Quantities!

Sandwiched between The Yardbirds and Cream, 1967's John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton was a showcase for the brilliant 21-year-old guitarist turned deity. For this record, Clapton picked up a 1960 Les Paul Standard, plugged it into a Marshall tube amplifier, and proceeded to set the music world on fire. The sound Clapton created helped define not only the cutting edge blues-rock of the day, but its powerful, fat sound has influenced generations of guitar players ever since!

Eric Clapton played some of his most innovative phrasing and countless pioneering licks while using this Les Paul. Unfortunately, the guitar was stolen at an early Cream rehearsal causing many fans to miss the signature sound Eric created with this exceptional Les Paul. Fortunately for us, Gibson Custom and Eric Clapton have come together for a historic collaboration this year to recreate a tribute to his original guitar. Based on feedback and recollections from Clapton, this guitar has all of the features that Clapton prefers including a special thin 1960 "Eric Clapton" neck profile, Grover tuners, and custom pickups.

Musician's Friend Private Reserve will have very limited quantities of all three versions; Murphy Aged and Signed by Eric Clapton, Murphy Aged, and VOS (Vintage Original Spec). All come with special collectible packages, certificate, and a Gibson Custom hardshell case silkscreened with Eric's signature.

Gibson Custom

1955 Les Paul Hot Rod Refin

Unmatched harmonic richness and incredible singing sustain are hallmarks of the 1955 Reissue Series Les Pauls from Gibson Custom. By utilizing the proper vintage metal alloys and longer dimensions for the steel tailpiece studs and bushings, the '55 series comes closer to true vintage tonality than ever before.

This week's spotlight guitar is a Refin Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul model featuring a TonePros lightweight wraparound tailpiece and a beautiful vintage-looking "Pale Whiskey" sunburst finish. Some might call this a "conversion re-creation" as it emulates an original 1955 Les Paul that has been converted from P-90 single-coil pickups to humbucking pickups and has been factory refinished as a sunburst. As the popularity of the 1959 Sunburst Les Paul exploded, many players that could not track down an original Sunburst example performed this conversion on early goldtop Les Pauls as they tried to get closer to the sound and look of their dream guitar. This version maintains the single-piece wraparound bridge/tailpiece combination of an early '55, which many musicians actually prefer over the two-piece alternative believing that it more directly drives the guitar body resulting in additional resonance. Add in the powerful, full sound of humbucking pickups and you get a very rich tone that has incredible sustain and a signature strong edge.

Like all the variations in the 1955 Les Paul Series, this one has the ultra-comfortable '55 Soft Shoulder neck profile copied from a prime, magical-feeling original 1955 neck—a dream to play! If you want the best in Les Paul sound and feel, you owe it to yourself to check out the '55 Reissue series.

50th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul

A Rare Model Featuring Bigsby Vibrato!

This special version of the 50th Anniversary '59 Les Paul conjures up the iconic image of Keith Richards during the early British Invasion. A Bigsby-equipped '59 Les Paul with fine flamed figure was The Rolling Stones guitarist's "go-to axe" for many live appearances that came across the airwaves during the pivotal year of 1965, doing much to bring the awareness of the Les Paul Standard into the consciousness of burgeoning rockers. Many other musicians over the years from jazzers to rockabilly masters have enjoyed the additional flexibility a Bigsby vibrato unit gives. It increases the versatility of the classic Les Paul by allowing emotive expression of wavering pitch and shimmering vibrato with the gentle wiggle of the handle. Many also enjoy the extra sustain and tone-enhancing quality provided by the Bigsby's extra mass and material composition.

Additionally, the Amber Honey Burst finish is extremely rare. Only 15 guitars featuring this special finish were distributed in the United States during the 50th Anniversary year. It is a beautiful hue reminiscent of a wonderful western sunset, with a gentle red-orange that fades into a rich ambered center. We only have a couple of these rare birds left, so don't miss your opportunity to own one of these special Les Paul guitars. Comes with hardshell case and special limited-edition certificate.
